I wanted to love this movie, I really did. From the pre-Fest hype, to the adorable family in tartan, to the presence of Dame Shirley Bassey, I was ready to be charmed. Now admittedly, I'm not a 007 fan so I may not have been in on the joke early enough; and I know I am utterly spoiled by having seen every Pixar premiere in that very theater; but I really have to agree with you regarding the animation quality and the (lack of) story coherence.

I am more than willing to suspend my disbelief for a good movie, but when I find myself saying "Where did that come from?" and "This is just stupid" over and over again, during a CARTOON, no less, I know I'm in over my head. Plus, I was distracted early on by wondering if "beaver" has the same slang meaning in Scotland as it does in the U.S., or was that an unfortunate choice of mammal. I don't think it was an accident, giving the ever-enlarging state of boobage on the female characters.

The ending perhaps sums up the whole state of affairs, as Sir Billi invites the mega-buxom American visitor to join him at his secret cliff to watch the sunset, and it was ALREADY DARK. Um, yeah.
